Attorney-Client Privilege

Communications and correspondence with attorneys in the Office of General Counsel are protected and regarded as confidential under the attorney-client privilege provided the communications are made for the purpose of seeking or providing legal advice on behalf of the University. These communications may be shared with other University officials on a need-to- know basis.

Communications and correspondence with attorneys on non-legal matters, or on personal legal matters, are not confidential or privileged. If you are unclear whether your matter is University- related or personal, check with the Office of General Counsel through a meeting or phone call before sending us any written communication – including email -- you may wish to remain confidential.
